When you arrive for your first visit, please be prepared to complete all insurance and health information forms that will allow us to begin your dental treatment. We look forward to meeting you and helping you get acquainted with our office and our team.
Your initial comprehensive visit will last approximately one and a half hours. After reviewing your health history and listening to your wants and concerns, we will gather necessary records including radiographs and intra-oral camera images. We will perform a thorough exam of your teeth, gums, and other tissues of your mouth looking for any areas of concern or disease. Oral hygiene instructions will be provided along with suggestions to help you care for your teeth. In most cases, we will also clean your teeth on this visit and provide an evaluation that will outline your existing dental problems and proposed treatment. If a deeper, therapeutic cleaning is needed for treating gum disease or very heavy build-up, we will perform an initial debridement and schedule additional visits to clean below the gums when anesthesia can be used for your comfort.
If you have anxiety about dental treatment, we have many means of helping you relax including: brightly lit treatment rooms with floor to ceiling windows and panoramic views of the San Clemente hills, flat screen monitors on the ceiling for you to view DVD's during treatment, headphones to listen to your favorite music, nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and sometimes prescription anti-anxiety medications. Your comfort is our number one concern and there is never an additional fee for using any of the items we provide to help you relax.
